Every year on Tomb-Sweeping Day (Qingming Festival), about 8,000 members of the Ye clan gather in Xinwu, Taoyuan to worship their ancestors. This incredible tradition is the largest single-surname ancestor worship event in Taiwan. Because of its deep cultural significance and long history, the Taoyuan City Government officially recognized this massive family gathering as an Intangible Cultural Heritage. It perfectly highlights the traditional Hakka culture and the core virtue of honoring one’s roots.
